Cosmetics consumers are increasingly interested in the sustainable and ecological origin of the products they buy . That they are as natural as possible, that they are respectful of the environment or that they are not tested on animals are some of the requirements that can lead a buyer to opt for one brand or another. L'Oréal knows this well , which has set the goal that the majority of ingredients used by the firm by 2030 come from renewable plant and mineral sources. The manufacturer of Maybelline and Lancome has given in to the demands of consumers, who demand that their creams and makeup be made from natural components, as well as that they can be recycled.
This poses a great challenge in terms of searching for packaging, but also in adapting existing products to the organic level. L'Oréal assured that, over the next ten years, 95% of the ingredients in all its brands Phone Number List and ranges will come from plants and flowers that can be renewed or replanted, and minerals that can be found in abundance. That move toward a greener approach will also include the development of formulas that are not harmful to aquatic ecosystems and that dissolve in water. “We decided it was the right time to do this, as there has been a lot of scientific progress,” said Laurent Gilbert.
Director of sustainable innovation at L'Oréal. Within this purpose, L'Oréal will try to find new ways to extract or produce ingredients such as vitamin C or hyaluronic acid. Gilbert noted that some products were more difficult to adapt to the same degree of effectiveness as those containing chemicals, such as sunscreen or hair dye. The beauty company, which has more than 36 brands around the world and registered a rebound in sales in the fourth quarter of 2020 , thus begins a stage with new objectives.
